IPM Sri Lanka receives Bronze award at CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards

IPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in human resources management – was awarded the Bronze award for the Best Annual Report in the Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) Category for its 2016 Annual Report titled ‘Empower the Future’ at the 52nd CA Sri Lanka Annual Report award ceremony held at Waters Edge on 6 December. 

This is the fourth consecutive year in which IPM Sri Lanka’s Annual Report has been awarded for excellence by CA Sri Lanka winning Silver in 2015, Compliance Award in 2014 and Gold Award in 2013. IPM was also awarded the Certificate of Merit in the Non-Governmental Organizations category by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in 2013 for the Best Presented Annual Report Awards at the SAFA annual event held in Buwaseshwer, India.

CA Sri Lanka’s Annual Report Competition is an effort to search for the most cohesive, clear and customised annual reports that best reflect an entity’s operations while going beyond their statutory boundaries for reporting with the objective of encouraging and recognising excellence in annual reporting. Since converging with International Financial Reporting Standards four years ago, Sri Lankan entities can boast of producing annual reports that are of the highest international standards. 

“A well compiled annual report provides a wealth of information about the activities, operations, financial standing and future directions of the entity to key stakeholders. We are delighted that CA Sri Lanka has recognised IPM Sri Lanka’s Annual Report as the most outstanding in the SME category with the award of the Bronze Award,” said Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri, President, IPM Sri Lanka.

“Whilst thanking CA Sri Lanka for the award, I take this opportunity to congratulate IPM Sri Lanka’s finance team headed by Director Finance and Administration P. G. Tennakoon, Executive Director Peter Daabre and all others who were involved in the conceptualisation and preparation of the annual report,” he added.

IPM Sri Lanka’s annual report contains a significant amount of information which are important to our various stakeholders such as members, students, government and general public. 

“Presented in an easily understandable graphical format, we ensured that our annual report goes far beyond stipulated minimum legal and statutory reporting requirements. Our transparent and ethical reporting standards which are fully sanctioned by the Governing Council and the Board, ensures that we adhere to principles of good governance at all times” said P. G. Tennakoon, Director, Finance & Administration, IPM Sri Lanka.

IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuously with the business community to share experiences, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participation at international conferences and forums to provide exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka. 

IPM was founded in 1959 and was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976. IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Association. IPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) Sri Lanka. Currently IPM comprises of over 900 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organisations.
