IPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in Human Resource Management – has initiated plans to expand its footprint to neighbouring Republic of Maldives in order to provide their expertise in HR education and people management skills to the citizens of Maldives. IPM is the foremost professional HR body in Sri Lanka with its head office in Colombo while reaching out to students and HR professionals in and around regional capitals of Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle, Matara, Gampaha, Negombo and Jaffna via its regional centres.
“We are keen on establishing our presence in the Republic of Maldives in order to share our experience and expertise in human resources management education and the profession itself with the Republic of Maldives,” said IPM Sri Lanka Immediate Past President and External Affairs Subcommittee Chairman Rohitha Amarapala, after a fruitful meeting with the Ambassador for the Republic of Maldives Zahiya Zareer in Colombo recently.
The IPM delegation to the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives was led by Rohitha Amarapala and comprised of Honorary Secretary Ken Wijekumar, Executive Director Peter Daabre, Director of Academic Operations Gopinath Subramaniam, External Affairs Committee Member Sajeewani Thilakaratne and IPM Sri Lanka Senior Manager Programs Anushka Earskin while the Maldivian delegation comprised of Ambassador Zahiya Zareer, Second Secretary Ali Nasih and several officials from the Embassy.
“Given the pool of young talent in Maldives, their keenness to explore new frontiers and the need to train them in ‘people management’ which is one of the most important aspects of management is essential. With our experience in HR education in Sri Lanka and the extensive relationships we have established with world bodies such as the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and World Federation of People Management Association, IPM is ideally placed to take on the role of educating and training the young workforce in human resource management,” he added.
IPM Sri Lanka is held in high esteem by regional HR organisations and associations with regular requests and invitations to participate and contribute at their HR conferences and events. Incorporated by an Act of Parliament, IPM Sri Lanka is the only HR professional body to enjoy this special status. IPM is the proud recipient of the ISO9001:2008 quality certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) is the first-ever professional institute to receive such recognition.
Furthermore, IPM was awarded the Silver Brand Excellence Award for the SME Brand of the Year at the 12th SLIM (Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing) Brand Excellence Awards.
IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuously with the business community to share experiences, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participation at international conferences and forums to provide exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.
