ISMM President wins top global award from IFPSM UK

Institute of Supply and Materials Management President Anil Ponweera became the recipient of the prestigious Hans Ovelgonne Award, presented by the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management for his outstanding contribution to the development of purchasing and supply management based on Research and Development studies and work. Each year the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) makes three awards in recognition of contributions made by individuals to the development of the profession of purchasing and supply management. These awards are the Garner Thémoin Advancement of the Profession Award, the Hans Ovelgönne Purchasing Research Award and the Lewis E. Spangler Purchasing Professional Award.
Ponweera was selected by an independent panel of judges out of 48 IFPSCM member countries constituting over 250,000 supply chain professionals around the globe.
With this prestigious award he became the second president of ISMM to win in such a competition. The other two awards were won by supply chain professionals from Canada and Malaysia
His award was presented to him by IFPSM President Soeren Vammen at the International Federation of Purchasing Supply Management’s Executive Council meeting, held at the Pegasus Reef Hotel on 25 October 2014, following the 42nd anniversary celebrations of ISMM.
The other two awards were won by the nominees from Canada and Malaysia. At the Executive Council Meeting there were 27 senior delegates and observers from 11 countries.
