Janashakthi employees shine at Chartered Insurance Institute Exams

In an affirmation of Janashakthi Insurance’s commitment to its employees, Ayodhya N. Perera, Senior Assistant Manager – General Claims was recently named the most outstanding candidate at the Chartered Insurance Institute Examinations 2013.
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is the premier professional organisation in the insurance and financial services industry. As an examination body, the CII is recognised by the UK examinations regulator, the QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority).
Ayodhya, while receiving her ACII qualification, also won the Nihal Senaratne Challenge Cup in a glittering ceremony held to honour the winners at the Cinnamon Grand.
Ayodhya joined Janashakthi in 1999 as a trainee Insurance Officer and has more than a decade of experience working at the company,
“Janashakthi supports us a lot, especially when it comes to education. The loan scheme they offer us is very attractive, making it affordable to complete a course,” Ayodhya said.
Janashakthi’s special employee loan scheme allows them to pay a portion of the exam fees in instalments, which is then reimbursed in full when the employee passes the examination.
“The management has been very supportive in encouraging us to receive qualifications, even allowing us to take leave when necessary so that we can attend classes. I would like to thank the management of Janashakthi for this support, which was instrumental to my receiving this award. I believe this company is one of the best in the sector when it comes to encouraging education,” Ayodhya added.
Another Janashakthi employee, Chandima Subashini who is a Senior Insurance Executive in the Technical Department was named Best Overall Student for the year 2013 at the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute Examinations at the Diploma level.
“Insurance is a product that is sold rather than bought, and as such talented people are vital to this sector. Technically qualified underwriters are really vital to this process. These awards are a good example which affirms our commitment to our employees,” said Gamini Peiris, General Manager – Human Resources and Administration commenting on the awards.
Janashakthi invests over Rs. 50 million a year in their employees, including overseas training. The Company recruits between 60 to 80 new employees every month and makes every effort to provide them with the best training possible to integrate them into the company as well as the industry. This commitment towards creating a culture of learning was rewarded with the company winning a Silver Award at the recently held SLITAD People’s Development Awards.
