Lankan-born Sahran Abeysundara elected Mayor of Haselmere, Surrey

in-3Sri Lankan born Surendra Sahrandip Kumarasiri Abeysundara (Sahran) was elected the 43rd Mayor of Haselmere, Surrey – UK, at the Annual Meeting of the Councillors in May, for a year’s term in office. 

Having accomplished his academic career in Dubai – UAE and France, he completed his higher education in the UK embarking on a professional career in Architecture and Interior Design both in Sri Lanka and UK.

He has been a keen campaigner of Human Rights both at home and overseas (prominently in the UK) and a social worker of high repute which paved him the way into the Haselmere Town’s Council of Members and in his first ever term in the council’s membership, to become its Deputy Mayor. 

He was appointed to the Boards of Directors of Nuwara Eliya Hotels Company PLC and Fairview Hotels Ltd. in 2013 and 2015, respectively. 

He serves as a Partner of ‘Alan Baker & Company Interior Design’ in the UK.
