12 August is celebrated each year the world over as ‘International Youth Day’. Laugfs Holdings Ltd. is marking it this year with ‘Best of the Best 2013’, a staff competition carried out for the benefit of the many young employees of the company.
The ‘Best of the Best 2013’ competition was organised with the intention of empowering the energetic, creative and passionate youth of the company by focusing on their professional, personal and intellectual development. The experience gained through this initiative is expected to hold these employees in good stead for the future and provide a platform from which they can achieve their career goals and dreams, not just locally but internationally.
Laugfs Holdings currently employs around 3,000 youth under the age of 28, and many of them serve in the crucial middle management level. All of these young men and women who represent each and every sector of the company were evaluated for this competition.
A special event will be held today (12), International Youth Day, to recognise five of these 3,000 employees as the ‘Best of the Best 2013’ and will be attended by the top management of the Laugfs Holdings. The details of these five employees are as follows:
Ranjith Jayakodi serves as the service engineer of Laugfs Gas PLC. Having studied at Metihakwala Opanayake Vidyalaya, he has a constant focus on new innovation. He utilises his knowledge in engineering creatively for the benefit of the company.
Manoj Niranjan Liyanage joined Laugfs Holdings’ IT division as team leader in web development in 2006. He was educated at Minuwangoda Madya Maha Vidyalaya and he uses his vast knowledge in IT for the progress of the company by managing all websites for the group.
Sandamina Yashoda Rajapaksa has been employed as the Chief News Editor at Laugfs Eco Sri Ltd. since 2011. He studied at President’s College, Kotte and D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo. With a mind full of creative ideas, he has assumed a leadership role in media coordination for the company.
Theekshana Gamage joined Laugfs Petroleum Gas Auto Lanka and Laugfs Holdings in 2010 as an accountant. He studied at St. Sylvester College, Kandy. Managing the work of the accounts division, he makes an active contribution to the company’s progress.
Manoj Kularatne joined Laugfs Corporation Rubber in 2011 as an Executive Business Development Officer. A past student of Wesley College, Colombo, he adds great value to the company in the important areas of sales, marketing and operations.
