Commercial Bank PLC has selected Sri Lanka’s premier English training establishment, Life English Academy, to promote English literacy among school children in the Kalutara District. This is the second phase of a comprehensive island wide program for rural school children conducted by Life English Academy, organised by Commercial Bank of Ceylon under their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
The second phase will provide training in English skills for O level and A level students of 11 selected schools from the Kalutara district, and is being conducted at Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Wadduwa, the host school. Under this program nearly 250 students will have the opportunity of improving their English competency, with supplementary English training. This follows the resounding success of the initial training program conducted in the Ratnapura district which concluded recently.
Nearly 200 school children from Kiriella Central College successfully completed English training in the initial stage of the island wide program which commenced in the Ratnapura District.
Commenting on the program, Life English Academy Director/CEO Noeline Honter said that, “The structured English education program will focus on spoken English and basic writing skills required for personal development. It will provide students the opportunity to communicate effectively and with confidence in an environment outside the classroom, when they have completed their formal studies. This will be a springboard to good job opportunities and a successful future.” She added that Commercial Bank deserves great credit for recognising and addressing the need to empower Sri Lanka’s rural school children with good English skills.
Established in 2010 Life English Academy has rapidly become the apex institute for learning proper spoken and written English. Their teachers and lecturers are well-qualified personnel with vast experience in the field of practical English instruction. In addition to the training programs for rural school children, and their large body of individual students, Life English Academy’s corporate programs include training for several diplomatic missions, and leading business organisations. Life English Academy has successfully completed a number of training programs for companies who have recognised the undeniable fact that good English skills will set them apart, and provide them the edge in a very competitive market place.
