Special recognition to Zenobia Fernando for celebrating 50 years with the group

 

The MD’s Award 2015/2016 was held recently at the Hotel Taj Samudra. It’s an annual event with the objective of recognising employees and companies who have excelled in their performance during the year.  

This year’s event was held in a grand scale with the introduction of many new awards introduced to recognise employees for their excellent performances.

The overall Best Performing Company Award was won by Macbertan Ltd., Best Business Process Re-engineering Innovations Award went to GAC Marine Services Ltd., Best Environment and Corporate Sustainability Award went to Topaz Hotels Ltd. and McLarens Lubricants Ltd. and the Best HR Practices and Employee Satisfaction Award was won by Topaz Hotels Ltd. 

The awards also set the stage to recognise sports personalities of the Group. Chalitha Madhushanka of Macbertan Ltd. was named the Best Sports Man of the year while Felicita De Alwis of GAC Marine Services Ltd. was named the Best Sports Woman of the year. 

Awards were presented to all individuals who have served the organisation for 10, 15, 20 and above 25 years.

McLarens Group Chairman Rohan De Silva was also recognised for serving the group for over 25 year and leading the organisation towards success. Special recognition was given Zenobia Fernando who has completed 50 years with the group. 

This year, the MD’s awards event was also the stage for the finals of the McLarens Talent Show – ‘McLarens Got Talent 2016’. Five performers/groups representing: GAC Marine Services Ltd., MOL Lanka Ltd., Topaz Hotels Ltd., Interocean Energy Ltd. and MSC Lanka Ltd. showcased their talent in the form of Singing, Dancing and Instrumental performances. 

The performers were judged by eminent singer, dancer and actor Dushyanth Weeraman and popular actor and director Sanath Gunathilaka. Satheendra Liyanagunawardena from MSC Lanka Ltd. emerged winner for his exceptional solo piano performance. The 1st Runners Up trophy was awarded to the MOL Lanka team while GAC Marine team was awarded 2nd Runners Up.
