McQuire opens shop in the Maldives

McQuire Rens Consulting, after its third international branch opening in Bangladesh, has commenced work in Maldives. This initiative by Dr. Nalin Jayasuriya from Sri Lanka was supported by several discussions with Ibrahim Athif Shakoor of Maldives, who headed as the CEO and held board positions of some of the largest corporate entities in Maldives. These include State Trading Organization Plc., Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd. and the first and largest listed company in the Maldives, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc.

With his several years of experience in the business environment of the Maldives, Athif provides consultancy and technical advisory service to the Government of Maldives, in terms of restructuring and improving performance of the State owned companies At present Athif is involved in a group of like-minded individuals and has started an economic forum called the Economic Desk (www.economicdesk.mv) to raise the profile of economic issues of the Maldives. Business, managerial and financial consultancy has been the main area of this high profile forum and in modest measure, a writer and an essayist with special interest towards matters relating to the economy and contribute economic related articles in English and Dhivehi to local newspapers.
