Mercury Institute of Management recently received the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Platinum Approved Employer status for its ACCA Qualification training. This award recognises Mercury’s commitment to providing quality study support, relevant structured work experience and development opportunities for those studying ACCA at Mercury.
The Platinum Approved Employer status is awarded by ACCA, the leading global professional accountancy body, to employers who demonstrate commitment to good practice in the training and development of ACCA staff and is an international premier recognition. To earn this prestigious award, Mercury has demonstrated its commitment to employing best accountancy practices and international standards in both their internal and external operational practices.
In the framework of the ACCA program, Mercury Institute of Management achieved the Platinum status of an Approved Employer according to the trainee development stream, which will help the organisation increase the level of qualifications of its personnel through methods developed by ACCA.
ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Ranasinghe explained, “Mercury met our strict criteria for this Platinum training approval, which included assessing their provision of study support, work experience, supervision, training records and continuing development. By Mercury receiving the Platinum status of ACCA Approved employer, it will significantly enhance the mutually beneficial cooperation between our organisations in the sphere of increasing our financial experts’ training and qualification standards.”
Mercury Institute Managing Director/CEO Jeevith Shakespeare stated, “To be given this award is a considerable accolade for Mercury. We have always supported our staff in their professional development and training, not only whilst they are taking their professional qualifications, but also in their on-going development. This award underlines our commitment to staff development and means that our ACCA trainees will receive great support from the company throughout their training. Being the only platinum approved tuition provider, it seems appropriate now that we are also recognised as a platinum status employer. As an organisation that is continuously striving for excellence, having accomplished this level of recognition, makes us justifiably proud of this achievement.”
Adding on to this Mercury Business Development Manager Thilina Ukwatta, who is also an ACCA member, stated that, “This achievement is of great benefit not only to Mercury alone but also employees like us. As an ACCA member, to be an up to date accountant 40 hours of annual CPD is mandatory. Mercury’s commitment towards sponsoring employee training programs, brainstorming sessions, strategic planning and many more has helped me in the past to fulfil the above requirement, and hence this status is of great use in future.”
