Minister Ravi K at 24th Convocation of ISMM

The 24th Convocation of the Institute of Supply and Materials Management to confer Diplomas on 42 students who followed the three year Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Chain course will be held at the BMICH Committee Room “B” on 21 August under the distinguished patronage of Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour are Professor S.A. Ariadurai, Vice Chancellor, Open University of Sri Lanka and Dr. Dan Malika Gunasekara, Executive Director, Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd.

Founded in 1972, the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) is the national body which fosters the professional development of supply chain education and training in Sri Lanka. ISMM is affiliated to the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) which is the world body which encompasses 45 national associations around the world having over 250,000 Supply Chain Management professionals engaged in different sectors and levels worldwide. 

In recognition of its expertise ISMM was able to obtain membership of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) which is the apex body of all professional associations in Sri Lanka and plays a vital role in OPA activities. ISMM is also to the International Trade Centre (ITC) in Geneva and is licensed to conduct their MLS-SCM Programs in Sri Lanka on their behalf. ISMM was also awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) in 2014.

In recognition of the increasingly crucial role played by ISMM in the development of the Supply Chain profession in Sri Lanka, the Department of Public Administration by its Circular No 46/09 (1) of 20.06.1994 recognises the Corporate Membership of ISMM as equivalent to a First or Second Class Degree in the field of Supply and Materials Management awarded by a recognised University, in the recruitment and promotional process.
