New book related to HR field to be launched at Carey College

A new book titled ‘Theoretically... Yes! Practically??? Why???’ HR by Ravi Mayan will be launched on 25 November 2014 at Carey College Wickramasinghe Hall at 6 p.m.

Mayan is a B.Com (Spl.) Graduate at the University of Kelaniya and has a Diploma in Personnel Management (NIBM) and began his career as a Trainee Executive in the personnel department in 1983. He has over 30 years experience in the Human Resource field and serves as a resource person in the capacity of Business Consultant, conducts training programs and seminars in HR related subjects and conducts lectures for London Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students in Accounts. Mayan, who has already published his works in newspapers, magazines and Labour Gazettes, has fulfilled his desire to publish a book related to the HR field for people who are not related to the field but are interested in enhancing their Human Resource knowledge. The book contains a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to obtain concrete and effective decisions and covers areas including interviews and recruitment process, counselling and grievances handling, industrial relations, etc. Mayan, who recently received the ‘Professional Excellence in Management’ award at the Carey College Centenary Awards Night – 2014, will launch the Sinhala version of the book on the same day.
