Next IR evening at BCIS on human rights and foreign policy

The ‘BCIS-IR evenings’ concept allows experts in their respective fields and the general public to express their views and develop a dialogue on current global issues. The second such discussion of the IR Evenings’ will take place on 27 July at 5.30p.m. onwards at the Classroom 7-106 at the BCIS. The session will be on ‘Human Rights and Foreign Policy’ and will be conducted by H.M.G.S. Palihakkara.



Palihakkara is a renowned Diplomat and the former Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs. He has also served as the Sri Lankan Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as a member of the LLRC commission.

The event is open to the public. All former students of BCIS are also invited to participate in the IR evenings. Those who wish to attend these events could call Sanath de Silva, Program Officer, Research Coordinating Division, on 0718-734347 or 2698019/2676980 to confirm participation.

The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies, the academic wing of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation, is a non-profit and service-oriented organisation specialising in all educational aspects on international relations including training, research and advanced studies. The current Chairman of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation is President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the academic activities are governed by a Board of Studies appointed by him.
