Honours long standing service excellence in the South Asia Region

next Sourcing, a wholly owned subsidiary of next Plc, UK, the retail clothing and accessory giant, celebrated Long Service Awards 2014 in Sri Lanka recently. The awards ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton Colombo. The management including next Sourcing South Asia Regional Director Chanaka Perera, next Sourcing General Manager Wilhelm Elias, next Sourcing Technical Director Hugh McConnell and the next staff graced this occasion.

Chanaka Perera, praising the team work said, “We have witnessed a respectable growth over the 20 year operation of our organisation, and I want to thank each and every team member for the commitment and dedication bestowed towards this organisation over the years. A big strength has been the ability to adapt to change.” next Sourcing General Manager Wilhelm Elias elaborated, “The Sri Lanka office has had yet another successful year having achieved 11% growth last year. Our teams on product/merchandise and technical have all pulled together and achieved this with significant growth seen on Newborns and Womenswear and I applaud all of the teams and our suppliers for having achieved this in tough market conditions.” next Sourcing Technical Director Hugh McConnell noted, “Quality Performance from the South Asia Region in 2013 improved again helping the region retain the status as the most reliable Clothing Supplier to next UK. In a growth year with new factories on boarded this was a tremendous effort by our suppliers and teams in the local offices who keep meeting the challenges and get better.” The ‘next-Long Service Awards’ recognised a total of 21 employees in the region. next Sourcing has 13 offices across 10 countries world-wide including Leicester, London, Turkey, Egypt, Bangladesh, North India, South India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Shanghai. next Sourcing South Asia Head of HR Mihiri Ranasinghe elaborating further said, “This is the third consecutive year we have organised an event of this nature, and it helps us to show our team members that we value them, who are our greatest asset. We are constantly looking at rewarding our team, and this event provides us that platform, to recognise our longstanding team members and enjoy our success as one family.”
