The National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka (NHRDC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) kicked off a fresh initiative last week in an effort to enhance good governance and best practices of audit committees of public enterprises and departments by jointly organising a workshop.
The three-hour workshop on the ‘Role of Audit Committee’ was conducted by a group of accounting experts.
The resource personnel for the workshop comprised NHRDC Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Ernst&Young Partner Manil Jayasinghe, CA Sri Lanka Public Sector Accounting Standards Committee Chairman V. Kanagasabapathy, KPMG Managing Partner Riyaz Mihular, BDO Partners Partner Tishan Subasinghe and Assistant Auditor General E.A.G. Ananda.
The resource personnel provided guidance and clarity on the best practices and emphasised the need for secretaries of ministries to play an active role in monitoring the output of audit committees.
