NHRDC, CA Sri Lanka in fresh drive to enhance good governance of audit committees in public sector

The National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka (NHRDC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will kick off a fresh initiative in an effort to enhance good governance and best practices of audit committees of public enterprises and departments by jointly organising a workshop. 

The three hour workshop on the ‘Role of Audit Committee’ will be conducted by a group of accounting experts who will help representatives from the audit committees including directors of public enterprises to gain a clear understanding on the best practices and good governance which are relevant to audit committees in the current context.  

The workshop targeting senior managerial level officers who are representing audit committees of public enterprises and departments on 6 July at CA Sri Lanka, will be part of the Government’s goal to enhance and create a uniform set of skills in directors of the public enterprises to help widen their scope.

The resource personnel for the workshop will comprise of NHRDC Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Ernst & Young Partner Manil Jayasinghe, APFASL President, Public Sector Wing of CA Sri Lanka and Chairman Public Sector Accounting Standards Committee (CA Sri Lanka) V. Kanagasabapathy, KPMG Managing Partner Reyaz Mihular, BDO Partners Partner Tishan Subasinghe and Assistant Auditor General E.A.G. Ananda.

During the workshop, the resource personnel will provide guidance and clarity on the best practices and good governance for the benefit of the audit committees.
