Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund CEO to deliver keynote at CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit

The local corporate sector will be given the opportunity to gain firsthand insights on ways of sustaining competitiveness with the CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit 2014 gearing up to feature chief of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund as its keynote speaker.
Qazi Azmat Isa, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund will share what he has gathered in his 25 years of experience in development during his address titled ‘Sustaining National Competitiveness’, at the 37th Business Leaders Summit.
The two day conference themed ‘Sustain Ability: Imagine. Implement’ is scheduled to take place on 27 and 28 May 2014 at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit 2014 will bring together members of the MA fraternity holding senior positions in organisations across diverse sectors where key developments and trends currently taking place in the global economic environment will be shared. Isa will deliver his speech at the inauguration on 27 May, which will be graced by CIMA CEO Charles Tilley as Chief Guest.
Playing the role of CEO at the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Isa leads the multipurpose autonomous development institution that has interventions in energy, infrastructure, disaster management, institutional development, livelihood enhancement and protection, health, education and disability.
Prior to this role he was with the World Bank (WB) working in the rural and social sectors for nearly 12 years. Isa’s last posting with the WB was in Kabul where he managed the largest community driven development program in the institution’s portfolio and initiated a nation-wide rural enterprise development program. He also served as the head of an NGO based in Balochistan, Pakistan.
In addition to being a dedicated leader, Isa has a passionate commitment to improve the lives of poor and marginalized people. This commitment is tempered by a healthy pragmatism which emanates from a diverse and cross-sectorial work experience and having had close contacts with government (federal and provincial) NGOs, donors and communities. This background which served as a stepping stone in Isa’s career has provided him with deep insights of the issues in development and has enabled him wherever he has worked to forge genuine partnerships between all the key players in the development process and delivering results for the poor.
Isa has also served on many boards in a voluntary capacity, including as Chairman of the Society for the Protection of Child Rights (SPARC), Board Member with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), LEAD and President of Aurat Foundation, the largest women rights organisation in the country.
He is currently one of the members of the Economic Advisory Council constituted by, Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and board member of Civil Aviation Authority.
