Pearson appoints Premila Paulraj as Regional Director for Asia

Premila Paulraj will assume responsibilities as the Regional Director, Asia of Pearson from January 2014. In her new capacity, she will be spearheading 19 countries across Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, North Korea, Mongolia, Timor Leste,  Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal) , leading Business Operations for Pearson Qualifications in vocational, academic and professional spheres. This would include Pearson General Qualifications, BTEC Vocational Qualifications and London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Qualifications. Premila joined Edexcel in 2006 as the Regional Development Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives. Since then, she has made a significant contribution towards the growth and sustainability of Pearson Edexcel qualifications and was entrusted the responsibility for developing the academic business in India Subcontinent. Her repeated success in developing Pearson’s business in the Subcontinent has earned her‘Pearson High Achiever’ award consecutively from 2010 to 2013. Subsequently,Premila was promoted as the Asst. Vice President, Pearson – India Subcontinent in 2011, where she managed Pearson’s business in academic qualifications in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Premila has been instrumental in introducing free, subject specific teacher training for teachers in the subcontinent. During the last two years, she introduced a teacher exchange programme where award winning teachers from Sri Lanka were sent to India and Pakistan as master trainers. Prior to joining Edexcel, Premila has played many roles in the education field from teaching to education marketing and curriculum development in both academic and professional qualifications. She is a past pupil of Methodist College Colombo. She holds a graduate diploma in IT, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration from Robert Gordon University, Scotland.
