PIM Alumni bestows Platinum Honours 2014

The annual awards presentation of the prestigious PIMA ‘Platinum Honours 2014’ concluded in grand scale at the Hotel Kingsbury – Balmoral hall, Colombo recently with the attendance of a large number of distinguished corporate leaders of the Sri Lankan business sector, the majority of whom were PIM postgraduates of distinction.

This prestigious ‘Platinum Honours’ are organised by the PIMA is the ultimate honour conferred on PIM alumni by PIMA and annually it honours special achievers of academic and professional excellence recognising their valuable contribution towards the business community and society at large. PIM Director Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The selection of this prestigious PIMA ‘Platinum Honours’ winners are selected on specific standards set by PIMA and also evaluated by an eminent panel of judges who are renowned and reputed personalities who are experts in their chosen fields. The prestigious PIMA Platinum Honours 2014 winners respectively were Sampath Bank PLC Managing Director/CEO Aravinda Perera, Maliban Biscuit Manufactories Ltd CEO Sales and Marketing Ravi Jayawardena and Derana TV, FM Derana, Derana Digital, and latest Ada Derana, 24 hours news channel Group Director of Sales and Marketing Thushara Perera. The Platinum Honours 2014 Winner Aravinda Perera, the current Managing Director/CEO of Sampath Bank PLC is an Engineer and a Banker of repute and also PIM MBA holder. He also served as the president of the Association of Professional Bankers, Governing member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and also as a Director of Colombo Stock Exchange and the Credit Information Bureau. Ravi Jayawardena the PIMA Platinum Honours Winner 2014 is a reputed professional in the field of Marketing and Sales in Sri Lanka and also a PIM MBA. He has served as the Country Head – Sales & Marketing of Coca Cola, and has held several senior managerial positions at Unilever – Sri Lanka. He has conducted Marketing training sessions in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Being the CEO of Sales and Marketing in one of the leading corporate manufacturing sector companies the Maliban Biscuits Manufactories Ltd, his contribution towards transforming the annual turnover of the company to double digits was one of the significant achievements in his marketing career. Thushara Perera is also a reputed Marketing Professional in Sri Lanka, PIM MBA Holder. His enormous contribution towards the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing as the President of the SLIM Sri Lanka and lifting it to further heights with international recognition was an admirable achievement. Securing highest recognition for the SLIM in 2011/2012 and significant achievements in establishing the contributions of SLIM with various educational products in Sri Lanka has been well recognised.
