The Central Finance Company (PLC) should have a strong branch network to operate its numerous businesses revolving mainly around finance leasing, credit financing, housing and real estate development, insurance broking, and vehicle hiring.
The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), therefore, having deliberated at length on the company’s immediate developmental requirements, formulated and conducted a Management Development Program (MDP) for the company’s branch managers. Development of branch managers of the company is, in fact, a critical factor in enhancing the overall efficiency of its businesses.
The awards ceremony for all the 35 branch managers who successfully completed the program was conducted on 3 March at the Institute.
PIM Acting Director Dr. Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, who graced the occasion, stated in his welcome address that the Institute had now acquired sufficient experience and know-how as to how management development programs should be conducted taking into consideration the needs and wants of the client companies. He wished the officers who successfully completed the program a bright future, and advised that the program they followed should be taken as the beginning of a new journey.
General Manager (Human Resources) of the company Mithraka Fernando also addressed the participants. He considered the MDP that was concluded as an act of ‘sharpening the saw’ before any important activity is undertaken.
Director (Marketing & Operations) Ravi Rambukwella, General Manager (Branches) Jaliya Ilangakoon, Manager Training Suramya Wijemanne, IT Consultant Sisira Athuraliyage and PIM Deputy Bursar P.G. Maithrieratne also attended the ceremony. PIM Manager, Training and Publications K.A.I. Kalyanaratne compered the program.
