It was the beginning of another meaningful journey with the third batch of participants from John Keells Holdings (JKH) PLC for the middle management development program conducted by the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) commenced their studies on Saturday, 31 July.
Realising the importance and the strategic role it is destined to play in contributing to the country’s current and future socio-economic development, JKH has chosen to tread on a continued path of staff training to attune its middle management for leadership roles.
Priyanthi Silva, Head of Learning and Development, JKH addressing the gathering said that the need to strengthen the competencies in order to compete in an increasingly competitive environment. She also stressed the expectations of JKH in developing future leaders. Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri, the Acting Director of PIM, highlighted the innovative learning approaches used at PIM in delivering state-of-the art programs.
Dilani Alagaratnam, President of HR, Legal and Secretarial of John Keells PLC, was also present at the occasion.
The program designed by the PIM is expected to assist JKH to expand its managers towards making them effective leaders at functional levels, and equip them with the decision-making skills required to expand their leadership capacity. The program would also deepen their understanding of core business functions, and improve their ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, amid challenging local and global markets.
