PUCSL engages McQuire Rens Consulting to embark on performance evaluation system

Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) established by the Act No. 35 of 2002, is a multi-sector regulator of the islands’ infrastructure sector and the shadow regulator of the lubricant market. PUCSL became the economic, safety and technical regulator of the Electricity industry with the enactment of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No.20 of 2009. During the last four years the Commission has evolved to a formal level of operations as an organisation from its inception. At present PUCSL is in the process of attracting quality manpower talent and to enhance the process decided to embark in a performance

measuring and evaluation system for their employees. Within the exercise it was seen that each functional area had to establish a more modern Key Performance Indicators/Key Result Area technique that would cascade to individual employees. After a tender evaluation, PUCSL appointed McQuire Rens Consulting Ltd to design the formats and processes to be used taking in to account the nature of the its corporate strategy and plan and the expectation of the organisation to be proactive and extend the measuring tools to encourage staff members to take ownership of the process and activities that will create stimulation among the its members. After an initial introductory roll-out session that was held on 9 and 24 December 2013 the initiation of the process to develop an objective based performance measuring evaluation system for the Commission’s staff members was held at PUCSL at the 6th Floor, BOC Merchant Tower, Colombo 3. The initiation meeting was chaired by PUCSL Director General Damitha Kumarasinghe. McQuire Rens Consulting was represented by Dr. Nalin Jayasuriya. The meeting saw the attendance of all sector heads of PUCSL, headed by Deputy Director General Gamini Herath supported by Deputy Director Palitha Sirimal representing the Human Resources of PUCSL. General Manager Ajith de Alwis, HR Consultant Dr. Prabath Karunanayake, Group HR Executive Nimna Bandulage and Project Coordinator Rizma Nawaz representing McQuire Rens Consulting Ltd were present at this occasion.
