A leader has the power to engage people and make them, and by extension, the business, shine. The businesses they build have the capacity to inspire and create value. On the flip side of the coin are leaders who use their influence to destroy value and ultimately people; a survey recently showed that for 75% of people, their biggest cause of stress was their manager.
A radical leader evokes the best in his or her people and sees businesses as a thing of beauty and a vehicle for serving society. The CIMA Business Leaders Summit (BLS) 2013 will feature Bridge Asia Pacific Managing Director Simon McKenzie as he discloses the four attributes of a radical leader that helps build a beautiful business; audacity of purpose, leading together, unlocking genius and liberated leadership. He will also demonstrate to the audience at the conference a powerful tool; one that enables leaders to be liberated when it matters the most.
As managing director of Bridge Asia Pacific, McKenzie is responsible for the running and building of the leadership practice across Asia, includingP&L management, brand development, government and commercial relationships and applied research.
Mac has extensive operational and leadership experience at senior level in both private and public sector; he specialises in designing and delivering pioneering leadership and strategy development programs and has worked with senior teams across more than fifteen industries, including financial services, education, climate change, logistics, aerospace, construction and defence. Prior to Bridge, he led the operations team of one of the key global divisions at Reuters.
McKenzie graduated from Oxford University with a Masters in Engineering, Economics and Management. He is trained and qualified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Transactional Analysis, Myers Briggs and Systems Theory.
The theme of BLS 2013, ‘Get REAL!’, exhorts those in positions of power to practice rational, evolutionary, authentic leadership, bridging the gap between the rational leader of today and the radical leader who defines tomorrow and in the words of CIMA Regional Director Middle East, South Asia and North Africa Bradley Emerson, ‘leads himself out of the shackles of history’.
