Project governance is a fairly new subject to Sri Lanka, in definition it’s the process driven system that allows management, shareholders, the board of directors and other stakeholders to have relevant, reliable and transparent information on all enterprise investments made via projects, programs and portfolios. Project Governance is a sub set of corporate governance by which projects, programs and portfolios are directed and controlled in order to implement the organisations strategy. The executive management and board of directors are accountable for project governance.
In this seminar, project governance will be explored from two perspectives. The first perspective is related to the accountability of senior management, which is associated with the link between corporate governance and project management. The notion of corporate governance from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be introduced. Likewise, the concepts of project management, program management and portfolio management from the international Project Management Association, the Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ) and the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be reviewed. Finally, an analysis will be performed on the ideas of governance of project management from the Association for Project Management (APM) and the results of the Alvarez-Dionisi research on Project Governance conducted from 2007 to 2011. The second perspective of this seminar is the integration of processes, technology and people in order to achieve project governance environments successfully. In this case, some practical examples will be highlighted for the benefit of understanding the interrelationship of all the components previously presented. Finally, this seminar concludes with recommendations for further implementation of project governance in corporate governance environments. Last but not least, Microsoft Sri Lanka will present a demo of their newest product EPM 2013 and how it can enhance your organisational effectiveness.
This seminar spans across many aspects of an organisation, therefore it will be suitable for chief executive officers, chief financial officers, chief information officers, chief operating officers, internal auditing managers, engineering project managers, marketing managers, event managers, human resource managers, management consultants, project portfolio managers, project management office (PMO) managers, program managers, project managers and those individuals who are currently holding a project management professional (PMP) credential.
