Seri Naturals empowers Armed Forces women in line with Government’s vision

Seri Naturals Ltd., announced the launch of a foundation course in beauty culture for the women of Sri Lanka’s Army, Navy and Air Force who have retired from active service, thus empowering them with the necessary skills and knowledge to set up their own business in beauty care.

The workshop will be conducted by renowned hair stylist and makeup artist Romesh Atapattu of Capello Salons and will take place thrice a week for a period of one month. The workshop will cover areas such as how to set up your own business, performing a cleanup, bridal dressings etc. At the end of the program a graduation ceremony would be held where all participants who successfully complete the workshop would be awarded a certificate of competence and completion.

Speaking at the launch of the workshop Shayana Raat, the Brand Manager of Seri Naturals said, “Our armed forces have sacrificed their youth and very lives to safeguard our nation but sometimes find it difficult to secure proper employment after they retire from active duty. Considering the selfless service they have provided, Seri Naturals is happy and proud that we could make a difference to their lives and provide them with the means to be self employed.”

These trained entrepreneurs would also be an asset to the economy as they would be providing a means of employment to other young girls in their town as well.

This program, which is the first to be targeted solely at women, is being carried out under the vision of the Defence Secretary of Sri Lanka Hon. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who in 2010 initiated a program to provide vocational training for all members of the armed forces who have retired from active duty.

Under the program several forces personnel will be given vocational training during the year and Seri Naturals will look to assist in upcoming vocational programs as well.
