Shiwanthie Wijesuriya, Manager Human Resource at ikman.lk, laurelled with the IPM’s esteemed PQHRM HR Professional of the Year award at the recently concluded National HR Conference 2016.
The National HR Conference is an annual event organised by the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) which provides a platform for both sharing of innovative human resource management (HRM) ideas amongst the local HR fraternity, and recognising excellence in HRM at a national level.
The awards are presented under several categories in recognition of the different aspects of the contributions made by the Sri Lankan HR professionals.
At this year’s National HR Conference, which was held at the BMICH on 21-22 June, several outstanding HR professionals were laurelled for their exceptional contribution towards people management in their respective organisations.
Shiwanthie is an exceptional Human Resource professional with over 10 years of experience as HR Manager. 36-year-old Shiwanthie is a product of Pushpadana Girls’ School Kandy and received her higher education at University of Peradeniya and Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. She joined ikman.lk in 2015 which is currently the largest local website in the country and has already established itself as a famous brand across the island. ikman.lk consists of a team of 200+ staff and her contribution to the organisation has covered all aspects of human resource management.
She plays the role of a strategic business partner to improve and carry out best practices of HR in the company creating value through HR to enhance the skill and knowledge levels of all categories of employees, whilst contributing to organisational development to develop its employees at all levels by providing a highly conducive work environment ensuring equal opportunity to all its employees.
The PQHRM HR Professional of the Year is a special category award presented each year to an individual who exemplifies excellence in the field of HR through a combination of academic and professional achievements. IPM’s students who are PQHRM (Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management) qualified and have set excellent standards within the HRM fraternity as a HRM professional who has contributed towards his or her organisation by creating value through human resources, are considered for this award. This award is to recognise a self-motivated and proactive HR practitioner.
The criteria for selection are having two years of past qualifying experience and have proven track records of contribution to the HR function of the organisation thus making visible changes, demonstrating leadership while taking meaningful steps to achieve continuous professional development. An eminent panel of judges having carefully examined the achievements and contributions he has made to the organisation and to the profession, PQHRM students who have made significant contribution to the discipline of Human Resource Management while taking meaningful steps to achieve continuous professional development.
