The Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) the centre of leadership, education and training in Sri Lanka and incorporated under the Sri Lanka Foundation Law No.31 of 1973 and under the direct purview of the Presidential Secretariat is managed by a board chaired by Prof. Ranjith Bandara. The National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) has been established under part II of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Act No. 20 of 1990 as the successor to the National Apprenticeship Board (NAB) incorporated under the National Apprenticeship Act no. 49 of 1971.
The MOU will create a forum to pool shared resources and interests of both institutions to work together towards useful management of resources in order to enhance the mandated objectives of both institutions. Both institutions will work towards a mutually beneficial situation with both parties using each other’s facilities or resources. This collaboration will build up links nationally and internationally and enable both institutions to equate and validate their own training courses and educational programs using each other’s credentials. The SLF is to conceptualise new or tailor-made programmes at NAITA in its computer labs and training centres located around Sri Lanka.
This strategic partnership will be a new chapter in technical education and training in Sri Lanka. NAITA is in a new drive under the chairmanship of M. Chandana Arunadeva towards producing professional competent leaders for workplaces in their respective disciplines. This will help to enhance NAITA reputation to the next level. At the same time, the SLF as the centre of leadership, education and training in Sri Lanka is very much pleased to take this project forward with its set of new initiatives. The SLF is making its mark in the education industry as an emerging institute. The first digital film academy, tourism and hospitality management unit and the centre for wellbeing are some of the new units in this state organisation. Among other areas social and institutional development, business and enterprise development, psychology and counselling and language and ICT are key pillars in the system. And all these add value to this partnership.
