SLITAD launches revived training and development diploma

Qualification to meet public and private sector demands Students from the Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development’s previous batches who have successfully completed the National Diploma in Training and Development were presented with certificates at a recent awards ceremony. The event, which took place at Hotel Janaki, attracted a sizeable number of interested professionals who listened in rapt attention to Dr. Ajith Colonne’s lecture on ‘Transforming People’, which is the fourth in the Evening for Trainers (EFT) series conducted by SLITAD.

The highlight of the evening was the launch of the revived National Diploma in Training and Human Talent Development (NDTHTD) with SLITAD Director of Studies Samantha Ratnayake presenting the symbolic course brochure to the evening’s Keynote Speaker Dr. Colonne. Ratnayake said that SLITAD had undertaken these initiatives to create a platform for trainers and be updated with the best practices of the public and private sectors. It aims to take this drive forward with national level programs such as the People Development Awards (PDA) and other international knowledge-sharing and exchange programs. SLITAD, the premier professional platform for trainers in the country, was founded in 1998 by a group of HRD professionals. Since then, SLITAD has been actively involved in carrying out its mission and now has evolved into an established organisation dedicated to uplifting the professional standards of Human Resources Development with more than 200 members. As of now SLITAD has made a significant contribution towards the HRD profession of the country by producing more than 200 fully-fledged trainers through its premier diploma courses in training and development. The next evening for trainers will be held at the SLITAD Auditorium in Nawala on 7 April 2015 from 5.45 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. by Eng. Gamini Gunawardene on the theme ‘Leadership Challenges by 2020’.
