Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development (SLITAD), the country’s only professional body that has dedicated itself for the promotion of best practices in people development, announced the launch of its much-awaited awards program – ‘SLITAD People Development Awards 2015’, amidst an enthusiastic audience that was present at the initial awareness program held at the Hotel Galadari recently.
Sri Lanka Institute of Training & Development (SLITAD) is a leading non-profit organisation in Sri Lanka that is striving to promote and propagate best practices in the sphere of human resource development in the country. The primary aim of SLITAD is to support the national economy through the enhancement of productivity for which ‘human capital development’ is an essential prerequisite.
Since its inception in the year 1998, SLITAD has committed itself to the above cause by initiating a number of training, education, knowledge sharing, networking and recognition programs. Through these numerous activities, the Institute has been able to successfully envelope a large and diverse cross section of its stakeholders including public and private sector entities in uplifting best practices in human resource development in the country.
SLITAD is affiliated to the prestigious International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO) and has many high profile individual and institutional members on its roll at present.
Addressing the audience, Ajith Bopitiya, Project Chairman, SLITAD PDA 2015 stated that arrangements have been already made to hold the event at the Hotel Galadari on 26 November from 6 p.m. onwards.
“The response we have received for the ‘SLITAD People Development Awards’ is simply unprecedented. Now in its third year, SLITAD PDA Awards Program is a unique initiative that recognises best practices of the Sri Lankan public and private sector organisations in the field of training and development. Such an effort we believe is not only timely but the need of the hour, as the country has embarked on an ambitious development drive, in which ‘productivity’ plays a pivotal role. People development and productivity are closely linked and no organisation can ever imagine sustaining business growth without achieving an exceptional productivity standard,” he asserted.
SLITAD People Development Awards is one of the most anticipated events in the Institute’s annual event calendar where it recognises best practices of Sri Lankan public and private sector organisations in the field of training and development. This annual awards program attracts a large number of high profile organisations including leading conglomerates and public sector enterprises, which will be bestowed with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for their achievements in HRD practices at a gala event amidst a distinguished gathering.
