From 10 to 12 March, a Sri Lankan cross-team comprised of Minesh Fernando, Maleen Jayasuriya and Dulanjana Kumaratunge participated in the National University for Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) prestigious debating tournament, Altus Disputatio, in Kerala, India.
The tournament used NUALS’ proprietary debate format known as ‘Devil’s Cross’, which prioritises fast-paced, creative debate.
The team blazed through to the finals undefeated and faced Loyola College’s team for their last debate. Following a tense debate, the team became the overall champions and Minesh Fernando also won the coveted Best Speaker award.
