Contrary to popular belief, career fairs are not obsolete. In fact, they’re alive and well – and employers of all sizes and specialties find them extremely useful. The recently concluded job fair organised and sponsored by the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation proved its worth in no uncertain terms. The job fair provided a platform for unemployed youth to obtain gainful employment. The job fair catered not only to those seeking employment but also to organisations looking out for suitable candidates to fill in their vacant positions. The event was attended by 50 employers and related organisations including private schools, hospitals, banks, financial institutions, factories, hotels and telecommunications companies . Job seekers who attended the event said that the range of information and support available was useful as well as the networking opportunities provided. The employers who attended this fair were of the opinion that it was a good forum to communicate with those looking for employment. Also prospective candidates have a better chance to find for themselves about what today’s employers look for. The aim of the job fair was to enable job seekers to meet with potential employers and organisations where they could gain support and advice to secure future employment opportunities. Deputy Minister of Education and Founder of MLGF Mohan Lal Grero said, “This is the forth jobs fair organised by MLGF. Each event keeps getting bigger and better. It helps job seekers to feel more confident when looking to secure work and opens up opportunities to have conversations that they may not have had. We look forward to providing more job fairs in the future and working in partnership with more organisations to showcase the possibilities available to people throughout the country.” The Mohan Lal Grero Foundation supported the event to promote their work and skills development service, which aims to help people learn new skills, develop existing skills and find work or education.
