The inaugural edition of the Women Icons Summit and Awards, a premier platform that celebrates and honours the accomplishments and contributions of women who have excelled in different spheres of life, was held amidst great fanfare at the Raffles Town Club here on Friday, 17 March. The summit felicitated Women Achievers from South and SE Asia, representing diverse sectors as a celebration of their grit and achievements.
Indrani Fernando, Chairperson and MD – New Philip Hospitals Ltd. Sri Lanka was a recipient of the Women Icons Award at the Summit. Driven by the passion and vision to be the Hospital of Tomorrow, Indrani gives attention to superior care, accuracy, and excellence in all that they do. Indrani started with a hand full of staff and now she is the proud leader of a team over 400 staff to support the forward march of her organisation.
An initiative by Singapore-headquartered Business Excellence and Research Group (BERG), the Women Icons Summit and Awards had Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore as the Knowledge partner along with supporting partners – Acado Oil Ltd., Joyallukas, Asia Biz Today, FII News and Media Kindle.
The summit discussion was based on ‘The Lives you Impact: The Role of Culture in educating and empowering tomorrow’s leaders’. The panellists included Dr. Vani Khare, Founder, Faith Foundation and Sanrakshan Ltd., Cindy Chng – a social entrepreneur, Dato Celestine Kong – Executive Director of Celestine Corp. Holdings Ltd. and Victor Tay – Chief Development Officer, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Vishwesh Iyer, Managing Partner and Director, BERG Singapore said, “The Women Icons Summit and Awards is part of an initiative to hold an ongoing dialogue with women achievers and the response was very encouraging. Women leaders from diverse sectors such as healthcare, marketing and communications, IT, startups, education, HR representing India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam came together to share experiences at this global stage.”
