Popular learning site guru.lk widens its horizons; comes with a range of products titled ‘100-Day Self Improvement’ targeted towards executives and middle managers. These come in the form of daily tips for success spread over 100 days
www.guru.lk, the most popular online learning website in Sri Lanka entered into a new phase of learning and development with the launch of the ‘100 day self-improvement program’ presenting a series of products prepared and conducted by the best trainers in the island. The program intends to bring in measurable results in individuals with daily practice tips in the form of voice video and rich animated content.
The ‘Secrets of Success’ program by Nalaka Hewamadduma in particular is targeted towards progressive people with the aspiration to improve him/herself on par with any successful person we see or hear in media. The program teaches through daily tips a methodology which can be developed over a period of 100 days, currently available in the Sinhala medium. If practiced diligently success traits can be inculcated on an individual, which enables them to succeed in their career and personal goals.
The products can be viewed through the website www.guru.lk with a PC, a tablet computer or even a smart phone. Headstart Ltd CEO Hasitha Dela commenting on the program said, “Considering the importance of youth in a knowledge society, we should give them products which are on par with the international products they are exposed to. As guru.lk we always benchmark our products with the best in the industry. The 100 day product is another effort to excel in that segment.”
Predictions are that by 2016 ‘knowledge hungry’ Asia will outspend Europe on E Learning products and services, fuelled by China and India. This is a trend Sri Lanka needs to adopt in building a ‘knowledge society’. However as a country Sri Lanka has not focussed enough on developing content for computers or digital content. Despite Sri Lanka producing many intellectuals and well known trainers, marriage of technology with knowledge has not happened to a satisfactory level. Guru.lk intends to bridge this gap by using the knowledge of intellectuals and converting it to digital format, commonly known as E Learning. This allows knowledge to be used any time anywhere with ease.
Guru.lk has also tied up with Dialog and Mobitel add to bill facility where the relevant fee can be paid via a mobile. The daily fee would vary from a Rs. 3 for a day to Rs. 10 depending on the course followed, hence making access to top trainers knowledge affordable.
The ‘Secret of Success’ program creator Nalaka Hewamadduma is a B.Sc. Engineering graduate from University of Moratuwa and a MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Nalaka is a Specialist in Development of Human Potential, Productivity and Well-being. He has more than 20 years of experience as a trainer and over 1,000,000 individuals have heard him as a keynote speaker. He is a regular contributor to national newspapers and a frequent guest on TV and radio shows in Sri Lanka. Working towards social development, he has freely given his skills in training and development to over 100,000 school children.
Currently guru.lk has content on three other areas namely schools, professional and lifestyle products. Guru school covers approximately 60% of the school curriculum. This includes some subject available in Tamil and English medium as well. Professional area covers vocational education, currently hosting level 1 of Institute of Bankers examination syllabus.
