HNB PLC, Sri Lanka's largest private sector bank, having the largest SME portfolio, concluded an extensive series of a capacity building workshops for its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers this year. So far, capacity building programmes were hosted in the Uva-Sabaragamuwa, North Central, North-Western, Northern and Southern regions. Additionally, the bank hosted a digital awareness workshop and a SME networking session in Colombo while knowledge sharing programmes on exports were also hosted in the North-Central, South-Western and North-Western regions.
The workshops are part of an overall drive by HNB to enhance the capability of Sri Lankan SME's to compete and thrive in local and international markets. This is accomplished through focused training on numerous aspects of business management including financial literacy, HR management, resolving business challenges, compliances, and providing visibility and improving management of supply chain for companies. These are supported by the bank's pioneering SME Export Credit Facility developed and launched in close collaboration with the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka, in addition to providing customers access to HNB's pioneering Equity Funding Platform for SMEs.
The bank aims to host similar programmes across the country in the near future.
