PBC: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has said, the terrorists who attacked the Karachi airport intended to stage a long scene by holding passengers hostage.
Addressing a news conference in Karachi, he said they were equipped with rocket launchers and other modern gadgets besides having a good stock of food and medicine.
The Minister said a detailed post-mortem and biometrics would be carried out of all ten terrorists to prove their identities. He said the elements behind the attack will get a response in kind.
He said 19 people, including 11 ASF personnel were killed and 29 injured in the attack. He said foreign as well as local elements were involved in recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
To a question, the interior minister said he has ordered a detailed enquiry into the incident to fix responsibility for the security breach.
Interior Minister Nisar paid rich tribute to security agencies especially the Airport Security Force and the Army for successfully combating the terrorists.
He said the country is confronted with internal and external enemies, which demands national unity and commitment. Nisar said that instead of any political scoring, this is a time to unite as an enemy that is unseen and hidden has targeted the entire country.
