People’s Merchant gets three new Directors

People’s Merchant Plc yesterday announced three additions to its Board of Directors with effect from 6 January 2012.

They are Tushan Wickramasinghe, G. Ramanan and Anil P. Weerasinghe

Tushan Wickramasinghe who holds an MBA from Edith Cowen University Australia is the Chairman of Capital Trust Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. and the Managing Director of Capital Trust Securities (Pvt) Ltd. and a Director in the Capital Trust Group of companies.

He served as a Director of Lanka Orix Leasing Company Limited from 2002 to 2009, and Proprietor of Shakthi Institute which is an educational Institute with over 10,000 registered students,

He counts for over 20 years experience in financial markets including stock broking, margin trading, wealth management, venture capital; corporate finance, bond trading, leasing and investment in properties

G. Ramanan is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business. He is also Charter CPA holder.

He is a corporate finance professional with over 18 years experience in insurance, banking, fund management, portfolio management, Investment banking and corporate finance.

Ramanan presently serves as Managing Director /CEO of Capital Trust Financial and Capital Trust Wealth Management. Previously he served as Chief Executive Officer of HNB Securities and as Head of Investment Banking of HNB. In 2007 he was selected as the CIMA Manager of the Year.

Anil P. Weerasinghe possesses a Degree with second class honours in Textile Technology.

He is a Director of Silicon Valley Software Solutions, JP Weerasirighe and Co and J.P. Weerasinghe Beverages. Previously he was a Director of People’s Bank and also served as a Director of the Export Development Board and Lanka Cement. He also served as the Senior Deputy General Manager Hyosung Corp. Korea and has overseas experience having worked for Etacol in Hong Kong.

The Director and CEO of People’s Merchant Plc is Rajeeva Bandaranaike.

Following the new appointments the Board of Directors of People’s Merchant Plc comprises P.A.A. Panditharatne (Chairman),K.R.D. Bandaranaike (CEO/Director), B.S. Yapa, A.S. Ibrahim, J.P. Amaratunga, T. Wickramasinghe, G. Ramanan and A.P. Weerasinghe.
