The Federation of Information Technology Industry (FITIS) is organising the API Asia Conference for the first time in Sri Lanka on 2 October at the Shangri-La Colombo.

One of the main conference agenda focuses on value chain creation based a critical organisational dilemma – embracing Digital Transformation and remaining a leader or embracing the status quo and becoming a laggard. This is based on the fact that digital transformation is starting to permeate organisations and can be found in a plethora of unusual places.

According Digital Services CXO Mario Bojilov, who is the opening speaker, future customer services interactions will not involve a human. Growing machine learning and NLP capabilities will allow for chatbots, phone support and self-service interfaces to deliver customer service at an acceptable level. These technologies will reduce errors, increase the speed of resolving customer issues, and remove some of the biases present in customer service interactions. Surveys done by Bain & Co, a leading management consultancy, show that across every industry, revenue of digital leaders grows more than twice as fast, as those of the laggards, and profits follow a similar pattern.

However, the biggest challenge is in capturing these opportunities. Of all participants in the surveys, only 5% achieved or exceeded expectations, while 20% produced less than half of the desired outcomes.

According to H One CEO and API Asia Conference CXO/Digital Services Head Samath Fernando, this session is designed to allow senior leaders, board directors, and various other professionals understand the opportunities and imperatives in digital transformation. During the session, attendees will become familiar with various technologies underpinning digital transformation, understand how they fit together and learn to identify areas and processes where significant improvements can be achieved. In addition, the attendees will understand what some of the critical success factors and potential roadblocks in the process of digital transformation are.
