Expanding academic openings for ICT professionals in Sri Lanka, CICRA Campus launched the Master’s in ICT Management (MICTM), with a specialisation in Information Security. “Awarded by Asia E University in Malaysia, the MICTM is a blended learning program. It is designed for people who are from technical and non-technical backgrounds to become future corporate leaders in today’s technology driven industries,” CICRA Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“The program is approved by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency,” Dayaratne said.

“A student candidate needs to complete 12 modules including eight core subjects and four specialisation subjects to qualify for the award of the Master’s degree,” he said.

The eight core modules include ICT management, cyber laws, ICT entrepreneurship, ICT project management and information security management. They also include ICT strategic planning, ICT governance, and research methodology in ICT.

The four modules on information security includes telecommunications, network & internet security. They also include cryptography, applications development security, and operations & physical security.

“This Masters also recognises the academic achievements of the students who have completed the Executive Master’s Degree in Information Security from the AEU. These students will get a number of exemptions and have to pay reduced fees when registering for the MICTM,” Dayaratne said.

“The advantage is students can obtain dual qualifications, one on ICT management and the other on information security,” he said. “Registrations for the first intake of the MICTM program in Sri Lanka will close on 7 February. More details could be obtained from www.cicra.edu.lk,” he said.

CICRA Campus partnership with AEU was established in 2015. More than 300 candidates are studying for the executive Master’s degree while nearly 70 have graduated from the AEU since last year.

Established in 2007, AEU is initiated by the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) – an intergovernmental initiative to which Sri Lanka is a signatory. Objective of the AEU is to promote Asian Cooperation through digital education. ACD has recognised AEU as an instrument for greater Asia-wide cooperation and a catalyst in narrowing the digital divide among communities and nations.
