The Federation of Information Technology Sri Lanka (FITIS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Samurdhi Development recently to provide training and employment for the youth of families of Government beneficiary programs.
This MoU signifies the commitment made by the FITIS to the Government of Sri Lanka to assist and improve the digital economy to $ 15 billion by 2030 from the current $ 4 billion.
Under this MoU, FITIS will provide IT-related training for the youth (16-25 years) of underprivileged families who are now enrolled in Government beneficiary programs to equip them with the skills needed for employment in the ICT industry sector. Employment opportunities will be provided by member companies of FITIS.
This is one of the projects planned by the Department of Samurdhi Development to assist underprivileged families to find proper employment. While providing employment opportunities and helping the underprivileged community, FITIS is also utilising its resources to build the much-needed skilled workforce for the ICT industry.
