ICTA kicks off inaugural ‘National Digital Consortia’

  • Event features 6 global tech giants Microsoft, Zoom, AWS, Google Cloud, Oracle and Huawei

The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) yesterday kicked off the inaugural ‘National Digital Consortia’ which will go on till 13 January.

It is conducted in partnership with FITIS, SLASSCOM, BCS, CSSL. In addition, the Ministry of Technology, Export Development Board, and Board of Investments (BOI) will collaborate with the event as National Partners. 

The ‘National Digital Consortia’ will feature six esteemed global tech giants, namely, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Huawei, Amazon Web Services, and Zoom. 

These global giants will present the latest products, services, and share insights on trends in the global tech industry. The key objective of the event is to expose the local technology ecosystem to the ongoing trends in the global technology landscape. The event also aims at building ties between these multinational organisations, local businesses, local government, and encouraging these MNCs to establish operations in Sri Lanka.

The sessions will showcase latest technology trends in agriculture, health, education, and fintech. In addition, fireside chats, case studies on digital government transformation, cyber security, and customer engagement and transformation, are some of the key topics for discussion.  

Google yesterday hosted the inaugural session focusing on innovation in agriculture, education and healthcare with the aid of Google cloud. Followed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) who will discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming agriculture and education and accelerating digital transformation through the cloud.

The second day (11 January) will be hosted by Zoom. Digital government transformation will be yet another pivotal topic of discussion by Zoom, followed by a panel discussion on ‘Reimagining Customer Engagement’. On the third day (12), Oracle will host the sessions along with four simultaneous product and industry-related sessions on agriculture, healthcare, fintech and education. 

The final session (13 January) will be conducted by Microsoft discussing one of the most talked about topics during COVID-19, ‘cyber security’ and drive their orientation towards the digital economy.  Entities from the technology ecosystem, government agents, academia, and those interested in the latest technological trends are welcome to participate at the event.
