Global cybersecurity firm DNIF has partnered with Orin Corporation Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of South Asian Technologies Ltd., a specialty cybersecurity distributor headquartered in Colombo, as its Value-Added Distributor (VAD) for the Sri Lanka and Maldives market. 

The partnership comes at a vital time as Sri Lanka is rapidly implementing digital transformation initiatives and scaling up cybersecurity measures. 

According to the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT), mandated to protect Sri Lanka’s Information Systems Infrastructure, financial frauds targeting local businesses have seen a massive upturn during the year 2020. 

There has been a significant increase in the spread of ransomware and malicious software. A significant number of website compromises targeting government and private sector organisations were recorded.  Incidents reported to Sri Lanka CERT have increased to 16,376 in the year 2020, a massive increase of 460% as compared to the previous year. 

According to the Secretariat of Senior Ministers, Sri Lanka, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) make up a large part of Sri Lanka’s economy, accounting for 80% of all businesses.
