Epic Technology Group, Sri Lanka’s premier and award-winning leader in Digital Transformation and Fintech solutions, recently celebrated its 26th anniversary at the company headquarters in Battaramulla.

Founded as an IT startup in 1998, Epic has expanded globally with offices in Malaysia and Singapore while growing its workforce to more than 350. Over the years, Epic has successfully integrated modern technology into the Financial Services Industry, establishing itself as the undisputed leader in digital transformation, e-government solutions, workflow management, secure electronic payment automation, information systems security, and mobile enterprise automation solutions in Sri Lanka.

Over the past 26 years, Epic has completed more than 100 projects across various industries, digitally transforming over 75 state and private enterprises. Epic Lanka was the first Sri Lankan company to win Gold at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) and has been named the best Sri Lankan ICT company four times at the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA).

At the anniversary ceremony, Founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Nayana Dehigama addressed the current economic crisis impacting many industries, calling it a wake-up call for everyone. “Over the last 26 years, we at Epic have been innovative and resilient. However, in business, as in life, things do not always go as planned. We must be agile enough to avoid the adverse effects of a crisis and overcome challenges. We must adopt best practices and adhere to successful processes. Simultaneously, we should look to improvise and find new opportunities in challenging environments. It is the only way to survive in business.”

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Viraj Mudalige emphasised the company’s adaptability to the changing landscape. “A company that fails to adapt to change will become irrelevant and obsolete in the long run. Just as we transform State and private enterprises, we transformed Epic into a product solutions company last year to strategically utilise our strengths and deliver superior value to our clients. However, the current landscape is very challenging, hence we must exceed customer expectations and deliver quality solutions on time. Our strong client relationships over the past 26 years are built on these values.”

Last year, Epic made several strategic decisions to strengthen its industry position, transitioning from a project solutions company to a product solutions company with 22 unique proprietary products. Epic also acquired Affiniti Solutions, a software company specialising in CRM and debt recovery and collection. Recently, the company ventured into resource augmentation to fully utilise its resources.

Epic’s history of innovation includes the world’s first integrated mobile wallet, the first company to introduce Terminal Line Encryption (TLE), the first to introduce Branchless Banking in Asia, and the first to develop a fully-fledged Card Management System in Sri Lanka. The company also developed digital applications such as NEOS, SmartPay, Doxmate, and DLB Sweep, the first-ever lottery app in South Asia with real-time notifications.

Epic Lanka has significantly contributed to the country’s economic progress, creating numerous employment opportunities for new generations of Sri Lankans and offering them their first experience in the IT industry. Over the past 26 years, the company has created more than 6,000 jobs and 2,000 internships, firmly believing that investing in talent drives personal growth and contributes to Sri Lanka’s overall development.
