Softlogic Information Technologies together with VMware organised a workshop on VMware virtualisation and Application security recently at Mövenpick Hotel, Colombo. The event brought to light the latest solutions offered from VMware in managing computing space with security and infrastructure whilst creating awareness on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
An eminent panel of speakers carried out demonstrations which educated the participants on how to implement latest trends such as Internet of Things (IoT) and Blockchain which enables to streamline businesses. VMware, as one of the leading virtualisation and cloud solutions providers, has been providing innovative solutions such as VCF, data centres and other high-end software solutions based on client requirement.

The event highlighted many implications when it comes to developing a business such as minimising total cost of ownership, enhancing security and improving applications using latest technology. The event was graced by Cloud Platforms, Asia Pacific and Japan Director Andrew Haschka and Nascent Markets Senior Technology Consultant Regie Yogendran, who delivered presentations highlighting the latest tools from VMware. The event primarily focused on empowering the existing clients of VMware with its latest technologies and introducing solutions to banks, Telco’s and large conglomerates to take them to the next level.
The participants were provided with a wealth of information on latest business trends and how to incorporate best technology for businesses in order to make them more profitable. Members from highly distinguished companies were present for the occasion who admired the event and went on to discuss their future plans in adopting VMware solution offerings.
Among the topics discussed at the event were market trends for cloud, applications, security and technology whilst aligning them with business strategies in the best possible manner. Demonstrations were also unfolded to showcase the importance of utilising security and applications in moving forward for any company and provisioning easy access to them through VMware tools. The event also touched on Blockchain, IoT, Edge with ROBO and ARM, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) for fraud detection.
The participants were well informed to choose between traditional platforms and cloud native and also to run both simultaneously with same performance. The event also unveiled new security frameworks, App-defense and Carbon Black, prioritising security as a major essential for companies.
The participants also got the opportunity to experience the VMware cloud foundation for modernising data centres. VCF is an advanced hybrid cloud platform which provides integrated cloud infrastructure especially in areas such as computing, storage, networking and security. It also automates the management of a complete software defined data centre (SDDC). VCF is beneficial to the users in number of ways such as simplifying the tasks and accelerating the market process, faster application provisioning, secure deployment through a standardised VMware validated Design. VMware application can be consumed in three ways, software deployment, integrated systems, and as a service from the public cloud.
