The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taiwan’s foremost nonprofit trade promoting organisation, sponsored by the government of Taiwan and industry organisations recently announced its Calendar of Trade Shows for 2020.
TAITRA has formed a global network dedicated to promoting world trade together with the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) and Taiwan Trade Center (TTC). Annually, it organises over 300 trade missions and 40 annual industry trade shows including its signature tech trade shows COMPUTEX TAIPEI, Taipei CYCLE, TIMTOS, and Taipei AMPA, overall attracting tens of thousands of buyers.

At the unveiling of the annual event calendar, Taipei World Trade Center, Colombo Director Peter Fan emphasised that Taiwan is known to be a strategic destination for foreign companies and buyers looking out for partners in global technology ecosystems including, strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities and IPR protection.
He said, “With a mutual interest to develop opportunities for synergy and collaboration between international ICT traders and ICT sector in Sri Lanka, years ago, we, TAITRA, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the apex body of the ICT sector in the country who addresses all major segments within the ICT industry. Ever since FITIS membership has been fostering many benefits including participation in Overseas Trade Missions and Exhibitions organised by TAITRA to grow beyond what is entailed within in-house capacities. The program has further facilitated to incentivise FITIS membership who are interested in visiting Taiwan with e-VISA support services – whichh is known to be a stringent process, accommodation facilities, and even meeting facilities at no cost as the business case maybe.”

Amongst which, COMPUTEX, is the world’s leading Tech innovation trade platform themed ‘Building Global Technology Ecosystems’ will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. The show co-organised by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA) will be held on 2-6 June in Taipei. TAITRA in association with FITIS will also host a COMPUTEX Seminar themed ‘The Future is Smart: Taiwan Innovations for 2020 and Beyond’ on 2 March at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo.
Speaking at the occasion, FITIS Chairman Abbas Kamurdeen said, “It’s been a privilege to have affiliated with TAITRA who has indeed induced our membership to embrace global technological innovations. Amongst many other focus areas of trade shows organised by TAITRA, its Tech Trade shows have also enabled collaboration amongst established brands to startups and the entire supply chain and ecosystems of the ICT industry under one platform.”
