Metropolitan Computers last week redefined the Sri Lankan computing experience with the launch of its four flagship models – Acer Aspire R7, Acer Aspire P3 Ultrabook, Acer Aspire W3 Windows Tablet and Acer Aspire A1 Android tablet Catering to a universal demand for more user friendly and revolutionary multiple-option devices, these new models seamlessly propel one’s computing experience to a higher level, thus fuelling a vibrant growth in touch screens over the next few years. Metropolitan Computers CEO Niranjan De Silva said that it normally takes a considerable time for technology updates and new gadgets to come to this part of the world, especially to the Sri Lankan market. “Our credo is to enable the Sri Lankan customer to experience the world’s latest technology as soon as it is introduced internationally. We’re thus proud to launch this extensive range of touch screen computers to Sri Lanka.” Managing Director of Acer Singapore Nea Pin Gek who flew into Colombo for the launch said: “Constantly looking to the future, Acer is totally focused on the mobile computing market and has set new trends with innovative technology which cater to rapidly changing consumer tastes. Consumer behaviour is heavily migrating to the ‘touch and type’ function due to its sheer convenience and hence Acer takes the lead in introducing fresh technology to its thousands of consumers.” “Acer has continuously offered extra ordinarily slim and stylish laptops thereby catering to new global trends like mobility, on-the-go computing, dynamic lifestyles, etc., thereby making Acer users feel comfortable where ever they go. Acer also offers energy efficient and eco-friendly green products with low power consumption with ultra low voltage processors to ensure a better world for future generations,” he added. Acer Aspire R7 The Acer Aspire R7 is a notebook specifically designed for touch and its Ezel hinge works just right: it provides low resistance for converting the Aspire R Series into four modes with just one hand, and higher resistance so the touch screen stays steady when you tap and scroll with your fingers. This mode brings the touch screen closer to you – a position that’s more efficient and comfortable for combining touch control and typing. The Acer Aspire R7 can function as a notebook or an easel, it can flick into display mode for sharing, or can be used as a pad for drawing. Aspire R7 is packed with premier multimedia and the full HD display makes visuals pop with life, while four speakers plus Dolby Home Theater v4 pump out four times the acoustic power of conventional notebooks. Acer Aspire P3 Ultrabook The new convertible Acer Aspire P3 Ultrabook encompasses everything one needs in one versatile device. The new convertible Acer Aspire P3 Ultrabook has an Intel Core i5 processor, giving it the power to handle several complex tasks at the same time. This is made even more possible by Windows 8 Snap split screen which lets one switch between applications without having to look for them. With a 10-point touch screen one has the best control over all of one’s actions. The HD touch screen enables scrolling through apps and files with brilliant clarity, while the full-size chiclet keyboard provides total comfort for typing those important emails. The new convertible Acer Aspire P3 Ultrabook redefines the computer and is a new generation of personal computing. Super thin and light, the Aspire P3 is an Ultrabook when one is focused on productive tasks, and a tablet when one needs greater flexibility to move around. Acer Iconia W3 The Acer Iconia W3 will be the first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet. Like past Windows 8 tablet PCs, the Iconia W3 relies on an Intel Atom processor to provide the full Windows 8 experience. Unlike these other small tablets, it is small enough to be used one-handed, much like a smart phone or tablet. Designed in collaboration with Microsoft and Intel, Acer’s new 8-incher offers full support for desktop software including Microsoft Office and Excel, as well as running any of the 70,000+ apps found in the Windows Store. The Iconia W3 can also be used with a detachable keyboard dock, but unlike the docking Windows tablets of late, the keyboard is considerably larger than the tablet to allow room for more comfortable typing. Built into the underside of the docking keyboard is storage for the tablet, letting you stow it when not in use. Acer Iconia A1 Acer stressed that the Iconia A1 is designed for one-handed use, As for the display, it has a 7.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touch screen which is good for a pixel density of 162ppi. With this, you can enjoy crisp and detailed images on your tablet. Behind Acer’s tablet lies a quad-core processor clocking in at 1.2 GHz that’s sure to delight data-processing hogs. It runs Android’s latest operating system, Jelly Bean.
