Agile software methodology guru to share best practices at SLASSCOM forum

SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of software and service Companies) has invited Pete Deemer, a Certified Scrum Trainer with over 23 years of experience in leading teams build technology products and services at Silicon Valley companies to address their member companies on 4 April 2011.

The briefing titled ‘Management 2.O- challenges in managing software companies’, will have Pete share the latest management best practices being embraced by some of Silicon Valley’s leading software companies that have helped them produce dramatic improvements in productivity, quality and innovation.

As former Vice President of Product Development for Yahoo!, Pete led Yahoo!’s successful large-scale corporate adoption of agile development, one of the biggest current trends in the global software industry.  Pete was also the founder of GameSpot, now in its 15th year as a leading entertainment technology website, and has served as an advisor and board member for numerous Silicon Valley startups. Pete is an honours graduate of Harvard University and is now based in Singapore. Pete is the CEO and founder of GoodAgile, the leading Agile development consulting and training company in South Asia.  His customers include services companies such as Infosys, Wipro, and TCS, and numerous product companies such as Nokia, GE, and Oracle.  Pete specialises in working with teams doing offshore agile development.  Pete is the co-author of The Scrum Primer, one of the most widely read introductions to agile development, and the lead author of The Distributed Scrum Primer, a new guide to distributed and multilocation Scrum.

Pete will conduct a two day Certified Scrum Master training programme on 5 and 6 April, where SLASSCOM member companies will benefit from special discounted rates. In addition to these programmes, Pete is scheduled to visit two leading state universities during his stay to share his experience with students. SLASSCOM as the IT/ BPO industry chamber spearheads many training programmes to benefit member companies and the industry.

The Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry is projected to grow by 26% in 2011 with export earnings estimated at US$ 390 million for 2010.  Sri Lanka has set a target of US$ 1 billion revenue with employment of 100,000 by 2015 for the IT/ BPO industry.
