Applications called for 2nd batch of Executive MSc in Information Security

Untitled-1 Applications are called for the second batch of Executive MSc in Information Security program offered by CICRA Campus of CICRA Consultancies Ltd. and awarded by Asia e University, Malaysia and the lectures are scheduled to be commenced 4 June.

Executive MSc in Information Security was launched in 2015 with the view of producing skilled and qualified IT professionals and managers who are capable of facing the ever-growing challenges of the information security domain. 

After a successful year of operation, now the EMSc first batch consist of more than 100 students, the maximum capacity of a batch, are heading towards their graduation. 

“The demand for the program is very encouraging and it is a pleasure that we have the highest capacity registered for the first batch. And for the response for the batch 2 call is also very high,” said Boshan Dayaratne, Director/CEO of CICRA Consultancies Ltd.

“We facilitate only 100 students maximum in any given module. There are about 20 vacancies are available for the intake 1 of batch 2,” added Dayaratne.

“We see several reasons for the success,” says Dayaratne. “Most of the program content were re-visited and localised appropriately. Module basis course structure and weekend lectures provides the flexibility the working professionals looking for. Our faculty represents top industry professionals where they share their practical experience in a live environment.”

Executive MSc in Information Security covers all information security aspects extensively comprises of eight modules such as Principles in Information Security, Advanced Computer Security, Network Security and Intrusion Detection, Application Security, Data and Database Security, Information Governance and Audit, Information Security Management and Research Methodology. The face-to-face modules are followed by a research project. The complete program is expected to be completed within a 12-18 month period.

Having successfully completed the program, students are expected to acquire an overall theoretical knowledge in information security methods, information security risk analysis and legal and ethical approaches to information security while learn the application of theoretical knowledge following best practices with right processes, tools and techniques.

Interested candidates who possesses a degree in IT or equivalent professional qualifications acceptable to the university or IT professionals who have at least five years of experience together with professional qualifications are eligible for applying for the Executive MSc in Information Security. 

“We have noticed that there are senior IT executives who have loads of professional experience, seeking for academic training in order to strengthen their theoretical knowledge. Therefore, we purposefully opened up an opportunity for such professionals too,” says Dayaratne.
