Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM), appointed Arul Sivagananathan as the new Chairman for the year 2016/17. SLASSCOM is the IT-BPM and Knowledge Services industry chamber consisting of 175 member companies focused on growing Sri Lanka’s IT-BPM sector export revenue to $ 5 billion by 2022.
Arul is the Managing Director of the Hayleys Power and Energy Sector and BPO and Shared Services Sector. He is a pioneer in setting up finance and accounting outsourcing centres in Sri Lanka and India. Arul is an Engineer and an Accountant, Former Senior Vice President of a global BPO company listed in the NYSE, has set up several shared service centres for multinational companies in Sri Lanka and overseas, and a well-known BPM personnel who had over 2,000 professionals working for him as the head of operations for Finance and Accounting across India and Sri Lanka.
Prior to that, he worked in the UK, Switzerland and Europe. He was also the Project Engineer for the construction of the World Trade Centre Twin Towers in Sri Lanka. Arul is a member of the board of study and part-time lecturer at Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and Deputy Chairman of CIMA Sri Lanka Board and holds several other board positions.
Following his appointment, Arul commented “I am honoured by the opportunity to serve as SLASSCOM’s Chairman. This is an exciting time in the industry and SLASSCOM is focused on growing the industry to reach the objectives set for 2022; $ 5 billion revenue, 200,000 job and 1,000 start-ups. SLASSCOM has solid fundamentals, a strong membership contributing a 90% of the industry revenue and most importantly passionate and selfless leaders. I look forward to working with the Board, General Council and all members of SLASSCOM.”
