Internationally famous camera brand BenQ was launched in Sri Lanka at the Image Today exhibition held at the BMICH last week. Seven different models from its slim and stylish range to its best value options were introduced to the Sri Lankan market for the first time.

Local agents Digital House says that it is time for this American standard camera to enter our country as it certainly provides a quality, affordable option to the growing digital camera market. ‘One of the most important things we’d like to emphasise to our customers is our excellent after sales service. This ensures that within the one year guarantee period, we will replace any defective camera (conditions apply) within seven working days of the complaint being lodged,’ says Digital House Product Manager Akthar Mohammed.

Another feature that adds significant value to these cameras, and one that everyday photography enthusiasts will thoroughly appreciate, is the provision of complimentary accessories that come with two specific models from the range.  These two cameras are provided with an original BenQ camera case, cleaning cloth, leather carrying strap and another first for the country – a miniature stainless steel tripod that is highly portable. No other camera in the market is sold with an accompanying tripod but Digital House prides itself on this offer as it greatly increases customer satisfaction.

All BenQ cameras from the lowest to the highest range models, have a minimum quality of 14 megapixels, but are offered at very competitive prices, which are on par with some cameras with lower megapixels. Digital House previewed their waterproof models at the exhibition by dropping them into a water tank to showcase their dexterity.  These models can withstand water at a depth of five metres for two hours as well as being dustproof and shockproof in case of accidental mishaps.  The dustproof feature is especially useful when the cameras are exposed to dusty terrains or sandy beaches.

The 7BenQ camera models launched include the P1410, S1430, LM100, AE200, AE100, C1460, and the C1430, all of which feature a variety of high-tech options as well exciting fun tools to make picture taking highly enjoyable.

A few of these in-built options include a powerful anti-shake mode, a playful toy and fisheye mode and a colour accent mode, as well as 720p, high definition video recording. Customers can even choose to enhance their portrait shots, with tools that allow them to soften and de-blemish their skin in the image.

By the end of the year, Digital House hopes to launch a professional camera series specially aimed at photographers. These advanced devices will feature 21X optical zoom, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 100Mb of built-in memory and 16 megapixels of camera quality.
