Bigger and better INFOTEL 2013 kicks off today

The popular Sri Lankan ICT exposition INFOTEL 2013, organised by The Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), will be inaugurated today at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) concurrently with the World Summit Awards organised by Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA). According to Organising Committee Chairman, Sala Enterprises Managing Director Chinthaka Wijewickrema, the rapidly advancing technology makes lives easier by influencing every aspect of Sri Lankans regardless of the social status, gender, livelihood or the age. “With this in mind the FITIS has appropriately themed this year’s INFOTEL as ‘Enhancing Lives’. Being the flagship event of FITIS, INFOTEL has evolved to be the largest technology exhibition held in Sri Lanka and is patronised by the key decision makers of leading organisations. The exhibition will be featuring the widest range of ICT solutions and services and provides a lucrative platform for new business opportunities, and most importantly as a B2B platform,” he said. “We expect over 30,000 visitors both local and foreign to take advantage of the special categories including healthcare, education, tourism and agriculture in addition to the general ICT solutions. This year’s INFOTEL will have over 200 stalls in categories such as hardware, software, systems integration, back process outsourcing, office automation, communications, training, electronic media and gaming. INFOTEL 2013 will be unique as it will not be limited to a showcase of  ICT product and gadgets but will be one of international standards and a meeting place for corporates, buyers, sellers, recruiting companies, career seekers and IT enthusiasts alike,” he added. INFOTEL 2013 offers an ideal platform for ICT stakeholders in Sri Lanka and other international countries to explore and capitalise the new growth and wealth creation opportunities in the country. With Sri Lanka poised to be an IT hub in the region, INFOTEL 2013 will be more focused towards the country’s national growth. Today IT has become a core factor in any type of growth industry which can range from a very small business enterprise to that of a top corporate. In the future, hence the area of IT will be the main driving force behind the country’s growth and it is hoped that this year’s exhibition can position Sri Lankan products to the outside world. FITIS has been in operation for the last 20 years as the unified umbrella organisation of the ICT industry in Sri Lanka.
